Ramona MacLean was born half mermaid, half unicorn, so naturally, she was drawn to the arts. After completing the Musical Theatre program at Capilano University, the need to draw characters and imagine worlds inspired her to take the 2D Animation Program at Capilano as well. She then was hired to do Storyboards at Bardel Entertainment, working on multiple Dreamwork Tv shows including; Puss in Boots, King Julien and The Rescue Riders. She currently spends her time sipping tea with imaginary British animals and visiting unicorns in the clouds.

My creative process begins in Procreate with loose sketches. This helps to breathe life in to the characters and get a feel for their personality. Once that’s developed, I move on to finalizing the drawing through line art, this will vary depending on the preference of the client and feel of the project. After that comes colour, where I will try a few different palettes to see which seems best suited to the character and the over-all visual. My favourite part of the process has got to be figuring out the characters. How they move, act, dress, think!
